If you believe that you have been exposed to someone or people with COVID-19 it is important to note that typical symptoms may not even appear for a few days. If you believe you have been exposed se recommend that you do the following:
- Book a test with your local testing centre
- Cooperate with health authorities and provide as much information as possible to assist with contract tracing
- Contact tracing can help mitigate the spread of the virus so please try to be as detailed as possible
- While you await your results we recommend you stay at home until you receive a negative test result
- During quarantine have someone drop food or supplies at your door (avoid contact with other people as much as possible)
- Wear a medical mask to prevent spreading the virus
- Wash your hands frequently
- Ensure you stay in a separate room if you live in a household with other people
- Ensure your room is well ventilated
- Monitor your symptoms closely for at least 14 days
- Ensure you are keeping in touch with loved ones over the phone or via email and let them know of your prognosis
Please note it is a criminal offence to be in public or in gatherings if you knowingly have COVID-19. Please do your part if you have contracted the virus and stay home until you are no longer contagious (through the form of a negative test result).
